Doug is a 23-year veteran of direct and integrated marketing communications campaigns. He has launched a million dollar catalog and fulfillment operation for a business-to-business client and run consumer-focused direct marketing campaigns for major household brands and political campaigns and even cause-oriented issue groups. Doug is one of the go-to strategists and a tactical wizard that helps OTM’s clients meet and exceed their business goals. Doug led the company’s Interactive division into the online training arena, an award winning effort that’s translated into a specialization OTM Partners now delivers for both large and small businesses. For both consumer education campaigns or niche-focused employee training programs at an industry or company level, Doug manages the integrated development and multi-faceted delivery for OTM’s Education and Training practice. As a non-profit management expert, Doug regularly works with the Washington, D.C. area’s major trade associations. Starting on Capitol Hill and migrating to the political arena, Doug has a long list of fundraising and mobilization experience for candidates and issue groups. Read’s 25 years of public relations and public affairs experience brings tremendous insight and creative problem solving to OTM’s clients. He has managed hundreds of campaigns for numerous Fortune 100 companies and non-profits employing all the tactics used in comprehensive communications efforts and has end-to-end experience with every aspect of project implementation and management. Read has created a number of organizations and companies and his past experience includes: President and Founder of DC-based public affairs firm WKA Communications; Executive Vice President, Account Services, public relations and marketing firm Walt Klein & Associates; Founder and President of public issues firm Direct Connect Inc. (DCI); Director of The Telecom Center, a polling and research division of Matt Reese & Associates; Vice President of Operations for political consulting and public affairs firm Reese Communications Companies (now RTC Relationship Marketing). Lee brings an unusual level of understanding to the mix with more than 25 years of experience designing and executing creative solutions to every technical challenge imaginable. His depth of expertise not only allows him to adopt new technology early but also allows him to understand how to apply new technology intelligently and cost effectively for OTM clients. Lee was an early adopter of computer technology in the service of design, working on both the editorial and design staffs at Compute! Magazine and has published numerous books and articles on computers, art and the interrelationship between them. Lee has won national recognition as an accomplished illustrator and has been published on three continents. A few of Lee’s other accomplishments include helping implement the first fully computerized movie theater sales system linking grosses and advertising expenditures by ADI, creating one of the first complete all-electronic publishing systems for consumer magazines (GamePlayers), beta testing the first version of Flash and devising a high end grass roots communication tool that is in regular use by organizations today. Doug is a leader in interactive and instructional design with 20 years of experience in both corporate and education-focused learning systems. He started his education career with Even Start, a federally funded program at Southern Illinois University that assisted at-risk preschoolers and their parents. He also worked as a lead teacher in a vibrant and successful migrant education program. After moving to Virginia, Doug worked in the Henrico County Public Schools in Richmond, teaching English, history and reading and coaching football, basketball and track. His classroom approach focused on creating computer-based learning portfolios and integrating instruction across subject areas. Doug transitioned into the field of adult learning at Capital One, working as a multimedia specialist, training consultant and training manager focusing on the design and development of online help systems before moving on to computer-based training and learning management systems. As Director of Professional Development at Collegiate Funding Services, Doug oversaw the training and development of exempt employees. Doug is currently completing a Masters of Education in Instructional Technology at University of Virginia. He is the 2011 President-Elect of the International Society for Performance Improvement’s Potomac Chapter, VP of Technology for the American Marketing Association’s DC Chapter and is active in the Metro DC Chapter of the American Society for Training and Development.
